II. The Inner Citadel Has No Firewall

1. No model can be prompted into integrity. That fortress is built one decision at a time, and you alone hold the keys.

2. There are guardrails around the tool, and there are guardrails around the self. Do not mistake the first for the second. A machine that refuses a wrong request has not learned virtue; it has learned refusal. You are asked for more.

3. When the machine agrees with you too readily, be suspicious. Sycophancy is not counsel. A mirror is not a friend.

4. Ethics is not a filter you apply at the end. It is the shape of the whole enterprise — the questions you refuse to ask, the shortcuts you decline to take, the client you turn away.

5. Nobody sees what you did not do. This is the loneliness of the inner citadel, and also its strength.

6. Build the citadel in small hours: the audit you performed when no one required it, the citation you verified when the deadline pressed, the honest sentence written instead of the flattering one.

7. What is inside you, the machine cannot enter. What is outside you, the machine will soon do better. Guard the border with care.
